“Light can be gentle, dangerous, dreamlike, bare, living, dead, misty, clear, hot, dark, violet, springlike, falling, straight, sensual, limited, poisonous, calm and soft.” Light is the one constant in this world. Everything we see is light. It's this light which in turn makes the shapes and the forms that we see in photographs. When I first started photographing, I had to search hard for those things that I thought would be good photos. As I grew as a photographer, I stopped seeing things as being pretty or too dark or too light, I started seeing simply the highlights and shadows around us. Everything around us is made up of shadows and highlights, and thus everything can be photographed. Photography to me is the capturing of light which can never be recreated. Photography is capturing a moment not in time but in light. TakeGreatPictures.com profile of Dan Gruskin Contact Dan at dgruskin@optonline.net. |
